Sizing Tip for Hawaiian Muumuu Dresses

We list the actual measurements of our muumuus to make ordering accurate and easy. Hawaiian muumuu dresses should fit very loosely, but keep in mind that the dress measurements shown are the maximum measurements of the muumuu, and not your measurements.

Muumuus and dresses are not graded the same as shirts, muumuus have darts (which is not factored into the dress measurements) and the shirts do not. For proper comfort you should allow at least 4" to 5" extra in the bust area, for example if your bust is 40" then you would wear an XL muumuu which has a 44" maximum bust measurement. If you have a 42" bust you would want to choose a 2X muumuu.

If you are having trouble determining your size, we would suggest that you play it safe and go up one size from what you wear in a women's aloha shirt. Typically a muumuu will hang off the shoulder like a women's aloha shirt, yet the darts will allow the muumuu to better conform to your busts contours.

When machine washed you can expect approximately 3% shrinkage with cotton muumuus, which is very low.

Mid calf muumuus hang below the knee, mid calf, for most average height women. Long muumuus hang ankle length, for most average height women.

The long muumuus we offer have an elastic neckline and my be worn in the relaxed position as shown in the picture, or you may also wear them with the elastic pulled over the outside of the shoulders, its mostly a matter of preference as both are acceptable.
